Have you ever had one of those days?

Well everything was going well today. I went to the grocery store and started to make dinner and I decide to make bread once again. So I try a new recipe for French bread. Now I like my kitchen but I have limited counter space and my bread machine is giant. So usually I have to put it sideways on the counter. So I put all the ingredients in and start it up. About an hour later I hear it start kneading. It's sort of loud. Then all of a sudden I hear a huge crash!! So I get up and find my bread machine on the floor. I pick it up and everything looks okay. The dough is still in the pan but the kneader attachment came loose.

Well I pick it up and check it out and realize that the lid has broken off. Luckily it's only in two pieces. I grab the pieces and begin to put it back together. The lid is cracked and I was able to jam the hinge back in place. Once I plugged the machine back into the outlet, it started where it ended. I put the kneader back and then started it up. So far so good. It seems to be working but I will know an hour from now.

UGH! I just hope I didn't damage it because I have only used it a few times. Right now I am waiting. It's risen but I don't see it browning. POOP!

UPDATE: The bread came out perfect. I think it's just the lid that suffered and it seems to be holding. YAY!

  1. I found your blog on Terri's at Clay Hill. I sure hope your bread machine is ok. I have never had one but think one would be great. I have a neighbor who is always brings us a fresh, warm loaf of bread. Really a treat with the cool nights. Hope everything turns out well.

  4. Caro, doesn't your mixer tend to walk when it's kneading? Or don't you make bread besides in the bread maker?

I'm assuming the machine is okay?

  5. I never saw it "walking" before. But this was a new type of bread. And my counters are skinny. In any case, the good thing is that the machine is fine, dented, cracked, ugly but no worse for the wear.
