A kid in a candy store

Today I decided to finally mail some packages for my sister, my friend Kelli and my other friend Jessica. They had been sitting there for weeks because I couldn't bring my lazy ass to go to the post office. Aside from that, I had to go to UPS to pick up something I won from Marvel Comics. Nothing big but Tom got his 5,098 tee-shirt this year. It's pretty cool. I am not sure why they didn't send it parcel post though.

So I also decide to go to Lowe's because I am planning my garden. Now normally I loathe Lowe's. But today I was like a kid in a candy store. I was there for hours looking at gardening gloves and seeds and other cool stuff.

Now let me tell you that I am NOT a gardener. In fact, I normally hate being outside but I am very excited to get a veggie/herb garden this year. When I was little, I remember helping my dad in the garden and loved it. He has a green thumb. Anything he plants grows, I, on the other hand, kill everything. Well okay not everything but I don't have my dad's green thumb. But this year I decided to go forward and try to be productive and grow my own stuff.

Oh and on that note, please keep an eye out in the next week or so. I entered a giveaway for a book called "Choosing Eden." I won but on the condition that once I read the book, I would offer it up in a giveaway on my blog. I am halfway through now and hopefully will finish it this weekend. So I will do a mini giveaway on the condition that the winner must pass it on when he/she is done with it.

Well I am starting my garden with seeds instead of plants. So I bought some starter packs to get the seeds to sprout and am very excited to get started. But I need to do some research to see when I should actually start them. I really hope that somehow my dad's talent has rubbed off on me because I would be thrilled to have some fresh veggies and herbs this summer.

  1. I can't wait to start planting as well. I too have the black thumb and am fearful to get started due to that. Lowes is like a haven to me. I worked there for 3 1/2 years and I'm a total junky for the seasonal area by the garden center. Best of luck to you on your garden. I think if you just pray for your plants and love them it'll work out (at least that's the approach I'm going to take)

  2. Perhaps your sudden desire to garden is part of Spring fever. I have heard that it is going around. Have a great time with it.
