Today is the Day of the Dead one of my favorite days of the year. I love the idea of celebrating the dead instead of mourning them. I am a firm believer that death is harder for the living than the dead. But we should honor those who have left this world and remember them.
Today I celebrate my Grandmother, Gilda. She was a fantastic lady. She was like a second mother to us. She was always there for us as well. She taught me how to cook and gave me the best advice I ever got: Mejor sola que mal acompanada (better to be alone than with bad company). She was wise and loving and a little kooky like the rest of the women in the family. I miss but I know she is still with me in spirit and that comforts me. The black and white picture is my grandmother when she was young. The other picture is from my sister's first communion. That's me in the hat.

Your grandmother was such a lovely woman! I think her advice to you is spot on perfect. I agree with it completely.
