MANO in Miami

I have spoken about Mano before on my blog. He is one of my favorite artists ever. He is also one of our good friends. I met Mano through his wife Cuqui (Cookie). Cuqui and I worked together. As I mentioned before, I have to thank Cuqui for the screamy jumpy girl that is my online avatar.

The first Mano we bought was La Patona, the big footed girl. She still hangs in our house and is the always displayed prominently above our mantle. We actually decorate our houses around our girl.

We also have a set of painting called the Gemelas, the Twins, a painting of a random woman and my favorite, La Princessa. La Princessa was named after me because I am a Princess. If I could wear my tiara all day, I would but I think society frowns on that. BOO!

Mano was an engineer who painted as a hobby. Luckily, he decided to do this full time because as the time has gone, his art just keeps getting better and better. And I still love it.

My favorite piece of art this trip was a beautiful doll he created. It is like half sculpture and then the skirt was made of wire and attached were love letters he found. It was just incredible. Of course, pictures just don't do it justice. It was just incredibly beautiful. I could have sat and looked at it for hours.

I am posting some pictures of his work for you to peruse. You can also visit his site and "like" him on Facebook.

  1. Wow, he is a great artist...kind of digging the rocker!

  2. Wow, what a neat style. Never heard of him before!

  3. Love Mano's style. That love letter doll is phenomenal!

  4. Hi Carolyn, Ohhhhh!! Now I see why you were wearing that tiara at Blogher! La princesa is real.
The artwork of Mano is very interesting...has alot of character.
