I have been lucky because I have not had many people in my life die. What I love about the Day of the Dead is that it celebrates the dead. You do not mourn but remember their life. I am also an avid collector of Day of the Dead items. Our shelves and walls are filled with skulls and Katrina dolls. Mexican folk art is so fantastic.
I am not sure if pets count to be celebrated on the Day of the Dead but today I honor my little baby, Shawn, who we lost this year. We still miss her but today I will not mourn but celebrate the fact we had her in our lives for 15 years.
I also will honor my granny along with Shawn. I know my abuelita won't mind.

Definitely a different take on the day but it's true, it's a day to remember for sure.
ReplyDeleteYour granny was beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love that it's a celebration, not a time to mourn. :)
