Our Jamaica Vacation!

Yes, I am a slacker but when we got back from Jamaica, my cold blew up and I wanted to do nothing. I am finally getting around to trying to catch up on my blogs.

Our Jamaica trip was fantastic. It was so nice to go somewhere where it was warm! Oh how I miss the heat. We left to Atlanta on Thursday and flew to Jamaica on Friday.

The trip was uneventful. The problem about our resort was that it was 1.5 hours from the airport so our trip was longer than expected. But once we arrived at the resort, we were greeted with a glass of champagne and a cool towel.

When we got to the room we were a little disappointed it was on the first floor with no balcony but as the week progressed, we realized that it was ideal because we were able to just walk out of our room and be at the beach in 30 seconds! It was perfect.

Couples Resort San Souci was a nice resort. It is a little dated and older but it was lovely. All the rooms are suites so they come with a separate sitting area and a large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The room was spacious and comfortable.

The first day, we took a walk around the resort but soon realized that it was so spread out that there was really no reason to ever go to the other side of the resort. There were pools, the spa and a restaurant but you also had to walk a ton of stairs to get there. Honestly, since we were steps from the beach and a pool, there was no reason to go walking the stairs.

The other good thing about where we were in the resort was that we also had the swim up bar and 2 restaurants on our side of the resort. Who could ask for anything more?

The first day we arrived around 3pm and after settling in, we headed off to the pool. After the pool, we rested and got ready for the Starlight Gala. The Starlight Gala consisted of an outside buffet with music and dancing. The food was awesome and we talked to a few people then headed off to bed.

I have to say the worst part of staying where we were was that they had several events on the lawn outside of our room. So several nights we had to stay up listening to music and merriment. Remember, we are old and in bed by 10! But we figured it was because of the holiday season and the events ended by 11pm, so it wasn't too bad.

The next few days began our fantastically lazy routine of getting up, scoping out our beach chairs, breakfast, beach time, lunch, room and nap time, then dinner and sleeping.

The only glitch was when I got off the plane I had a scratchy throat. I went in the pool and beach but on Christmas I made the executive decision of taking it real easy and staying in the room sleeping and resting before I got better.

Luckily, I had my e-reader filled with some great books to read. So on Christmas day I went to breakfast and came back and read "Late, Late at Night" by Rick Springfield. It was fantastic! I gargled with salt and lemon and drank tea. I was okay to go to Christmas dinner and then came back and rested some more. If you ever have a sore throat, gargle with salt and lemon!!!

The next day I was good to go and we spent the day at the beach reading and sunning and in the ocean. The water was perfect. It was so beautiful there. One negative was I was in the ocean and a crab pinched my toe. WTH?? The food was great. and the weather was perfect. It rained a few mornings but it cleared up immediately.

We never left the resort once because it was too nice and relaxing there.

The last night we were there, the resort had a Beach Party and it was fun. We had met an older couple from Florida earlier in the day and they joined us for dinner. The food was fantastic. I loved they had oxtail on the menu, yummo. They also had entertainment. They had a Fire Eater guy, Steel Drum Band and a Limbo guy.

The next day we left. The flight was uneventful again. When we arrived in Atlanta, it was freezing ass cold and we decided to spend the night there and drive home the next day.

Since it has been days since we got back, I am sure I have forgotten stuff to write. Basically, we did nothing in Jamaica. I miss it though. I always miss coming back from these vacations because for a few days I have people serving me night and day and that's awesome.

I wish there was more to report but I will let the pictures do the talking. I will post more pictures later this week as well.

I cannot wait for our next vacation!
