Happy Dia De Los Muertos ~ Day of the Dead!!

To celebrate Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) I made a Sugar Skull Pull Apart Cake.

All I did was make cupcakes. I then frosted them in white and put them all together to make the skull shape. I added a little more frosting to fill in the gaps. Then I decorated the "cake". I used Oreo cookies as the eyes and nose. I used the little tubes of frosting gel for color.

I am certainly no expert in sugar skulls but this one came out quite nice. I looked up some images on yahoo, then tried to create my own masterpiece. I also added one of my Dia de los Muertos Grim Reaper ornament to the top of the cake. It's not half bad!

On this day I want to honor and celebrate those in my life who passed especially my abuelita Gilda and my little baby, Shawn. I miss you both.
