I was laid off from work

I saw it coming. Money was getting tight. So it wasn't a huge surprise. It was just a matter of time. I wish them well because a lot of things have to get done to get back to where they were before.

Luckily, I am in good financial shape. I have savings and no debt, even at Christmas time. Tom will now have to support me. (his head is exploding right now) And since I am a Latina who voted for Obama, I will now be able to get gifts. Score! I was wondering when those gifts would kick in. (sarcasm people)

I know others who have been laid off recently and are not in good financial shape and they have kids and other obligations. So I am thankful about that I am good.

I will miss my friends from work. Yes, I actually had friends at work. But now I can spend more time with my friends from all over the world. I had been neglecting them these past 3 years.

As a Social Media person, it is bad when your Klout score, Alexa ranking, Facebook likes etc. go down and they have been pretty low since I had no time. My blog traffic started sucking and my blogs were being neglected.

Good news for the handful of people who actually read this blog. I will be writing more. I, of course, will be looking for work even though I voted for Obama. (more sarcasm) But we'll see what comes up. I am always up for a new adventure. Or maybe it's finally time to dust off the book I have always been meaning to write.

I am of the philosophy that everything happens for a reason. So I will just sit back and wait to see what the old universe has in mind for me. I can get all philosophical and say things like when a door closes, a window opens and you jump out. (Wait, that's not the saying.) But I won't.

I will just go with the flow. The good thing is finally my house will be clean. Our eating habits will improve and I can start watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer every morning and Judge Judy in the afternoon.

  1. Ms. Gonzo, you should do something with a season of The Great Food Truck Race! Now that's an adventure

  2. You should start your new, improved adventure with me. Like on the reality show The Great Food Truck Race.

  3. I hope you worked long enough to get unemployment until you find new work (fingers crossed) it is so hard these days. I will keep you in my thoughts. Still wanted to send my wishes for a Merry Christmas, hope it brings good tidings, my friend.

  4. I am laid off as of Feb. 8. Hubby's temp job ended so it's hitting us hard. I am so happy you are in good shape though and taking the news well. I have cried but like I told hubby.. that's not going to get us anywhere. Enjoy your time in Graceland. Big Big ((HUGS)) my friend!
