What We Are Watching ~ It was a bad week

This week we Netflixed (yeah that's not a real word, but oh well) one TV show and we watched 3 movies. Except for Justified, the movies we saw were losers!

We started watching this last year and love it. It's a weird little show set in a weird little town called Harlin in Kentucky.  The main character is a U.S. Marshall and he comes from this town. The town is filled with people doing really bad things. But the characters are great. The first season sucked us in. The second season was great and the third season was not bad. I love Timothy Olyphant and Walter Goggins. Walter Goggins was in one of our other favorite TV shows, The Shield. He is fantastic in this show as well!! I would totally recommend it. But I warn you, lots of people get killed but they all seem to deserve it and, somehow, it doesn't seem so violent. I do warn you it is quirky.

Let me preface this by saying, I LOVE DENZEL. I really do. He is a great actor. But this movie sucked the big hairy balls. Oh boy, it was a snoozefest. I started hoping that when the plane crashed everyone had died so I wouldn't have to sit and watch this nonsense. If you like Denzel, I recommend you rent or watch "American Gangster" instead. That movie rocked!

Oh boy, just when we thought our movie choices couldn't get worse, they did. I had big hopes for this movie because everyone was saying how great it was. I love Joaquin Phoenix as well. He is such an amazing actor and I still believe he was robbed when he did not win the Oscar for "Walk the Line". He is fantastic in this movie but this movie was a snoozefest as well. OMG it droned on and on and on and on and on and on. It was 2 hours too long! After it finished, I felt I had lost 2+ hours of my life. It was boring and had no purpose, at least in my opinion.

Can a movie with Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon Levitt go wrong? Yes. I had no clue what the hell was going on in this hot mess of a movie. Dios mio, I wanted to scream. We held off as long as possible but then came a point when we just couldn't take it anymore. We turned it off halfway through. We rarely do that but the good thing about renting movies, is that you can do that. I wouldn't even recommend this on a rainy Sunday afternoon when nothing else is on. Stick a hot french fry in your eye instead.
