We started watching Downton Abbey on PBS but might have to give that up because on Sundays a new show called True Detective starts on HBO at the same time. This looks to be a great new show. It stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. But HBO runs shows all week so we might make it work. I think we need a DVR but Tom says no.
Dexter ~ This is the final season. This was a great show but this season is a little slow and I think they are trying to wrap up the series. I was a little bored the other day but once we start a series, we like to end it.
Breaking Bad ~ This show ended and I am sad. It was a great little show. I am sad to see it go. It's not for everyone but it is worth watching. It has been one of our favorite series.
Parkland ~ We had no idea about this movie. It is a small little movie about the JFK assassination. It was actually quite interesting and I would recommend it.
Movies to avoid:
The Canyons - Horrible. Lindsay Lohan is in it, need I say more.
Jobs - You would think a movie about a man who changed the world would be good. It wasn't. It was dull and boring.
This is the End - It was so bad, we couldn't stop watching.
Wolf of Wall Street - We LOVED this movie. It is Martin Scorsese doing what he does best: making incredible movies. Sure there are drugs, sex and shenanigans at every turn. But it is wickedly funny. And contrary to what some say, it does not glorify drugs and stealing money from people. It actually shows what a scumbag this guy was and what happens when you are a bad person. Leo DiCaprio is amazing! Johan Hill is hilarious and the rest of the cast is fantastic. I would highly recommend it, if you are not offended by curse words, drugs, sex, nudity, drugs, hideous displays of douchebaggery and drugs.
American Hustle - This is getting a lot of buzz about being the best picture this year. It was good but not that great. The acting is amazing. I think Christian Bale was fantastic. Amy Adams was fantastic and Jennifer Lawrence rocked. Bradley Cooper bugs me so I cannot be objective in saying if he was good or bad. But the movies was not out of this world but it had its moments. I loved the soundtrack.
Lone Survivor ~ I left this movie feeling like someone punched me in the stomach. I also cried because I cry at every single damn movie. Anyway, it was brutal. It was a realistic view of war and death and all the bad stuff that goes along with it. It is intense. It is horrifying. It is also based on a true story so it makes a bigger impact when you realize people actually went through this. But it is a great movie. If you can stomach the violence and reality of war, I highly recommend it.
