Costa Rica Trip!

I didn't really talk about it when it happened a few weeks ago but my dad was hospitalized and almost died. That is why we deiced to take a week off from our move and unpacking to go to Costa Rica. It was not only to see him but my mom and sister as well. I have said before that my trips to Costa Rica are never vacations. It's all about the family.

I was glad to see that my dad was doing well after being in the hospital for about a week. His doctor gave him the wrong medicine and it affected him. My sister told me that the day she took him to the hospital, he was really bad off. Once he got in, he went into cardiac arrest and they had to revive him with the paddles. When I got the call, he was stabilized but it was touch and go. I have to thank the Costa Rica doctors who saved his life.

He was in pretty good shape except he has bad knees so his walking is getting limited but, overall, he was fine. My mom was doing well too. My sister was hanging in there. I also think she is a saint for taking care of my parents as they get older.

My dad wanted to go to the beach, which is something he never does when we visit. Of course, we agreed and had a great time. We stayed at the Jaco Laguna Beach Resort. It was not fancy but it was right on the beach and a pretty good price. It was clean and had a great pool. and views.

The best part of the trip was the Saturday at the resort. That was the day Costa Rica was playing Uruguay in the World Cup. Of course, my dad and sister were going to watch. Tom and I were going to have lunch and maybe watch a little of the game but we got sucked in. The resort had a Tiki Bar so we staked out our seats and ordered lunch. Little by little, the bar filled up with lots of people.

Most were the resort employees who stopped working and started watching. In the end, we stayed the whole game and it was so much fun. The Ticos (nickname for Costa Ricans) were out of their mind as Costa Rica scored goals! It was great fun.

Aside from that, we really didn't do anything else but hang out with the family. It was a good trip. I am glad to be home though because our new house is still a work in progress. We almost have everything unpacked and set up but there are still a few rooms that need TLC and furniture. Hopefully, we will get it all organized soon!
